A little info about this album from Chris...

Back in the 80s when I was living in the UK I recorded this album. I decided to finance it myself and book the best musicians I could find to record the album. The plan was to come over to Los Angeles with the idea of getting signed, or at least licensing the album to a small record label. After all, it might have given me an incentive to move here. I did make a trip to LA (one of many before I finally moved) and I took it round to a few labels. The general response (and I quote one label exec) "I think it's great Chris, real great, I just don't know what to do with it!". An odd but familar term of rejection from many record company A&R guys at the time. Another A&R said "Yeah it's nice, nothing to get in bed about". Charming I thought.

I think labels found the album just a little too indulgent, fusiony perhaps. The smooth jazz phenomen hadn't quite taken a foothold yet, but certainly the more poppy side of jazz was definitely emerging. So the master tapes sat on my shelf for a while...

18 years later and the digital revolution appears and I can now offer it here on my website. Do keep in mind I was a young lad at the time, relatively speaking. I make no excuses however, I think I was starting to emerge as a good player, and there was certainly no greater experience than jumping in the trenches and making a record. Enjoy!
